MAHRA Hosts 2018 Spring Conference


A commercial real estate developer with over 35 years of experience, Derek McDaniels recently joined Efficient Home in Burtonsville, Maryland, as director of business development. In addition to managing the business development of energy efficient installations, Derek McDaniels engages with professional organizations such as the Maryland Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies and the Maryland Multi Housing Association.

The Maryland Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies (MAHRA) recently hosted its 2018 Spring Conference, held this year with an emphasis on various aspects of community-connected housing. In addition to multiple speakers from the organization, including MAHRA president Eric Brown, the Spring Conference featured lectures and discussions led by Lisa Lothian-DeVeaux, assistant director of the Anne Arundel Conflict Resolution Center, and Esther Shin, president of Urban Strategies, among others. Areas of focus included the Housing Choice Voucher program, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP), and the provision of services to individuals with behavioral health disorders and other cognitive disabilities.
